Frequently asked questions

Dyson Purifier Cool PC2 De-NOx has all of the capabilities found in our Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde products but goes a step further to now capture more NO₂.1 The new K-Carbon filter is impregnated with potassium carbonate (K₂CO₃) and can adsorb 50% more nitrogen dioxide1 – a common and potentially harmful household pollutant, produced by gas appliances, open flames, and wood burning stoves.

The formaldehyde-destroying catalytic filter never needs replacing. And we recommend replacing the HEPA+K-Carbon filter every 12 months9 (based on 12 hours a day of use) – so this may vary depending on usage and pollution levels. You'll be notified via the MyDyson™ app or LCD screen when it's time to replace the filter.

Dyson Purifier Cool PC2 De-NOx can serve as a fan, which can help cool you. It projects over 290 litres per second of smooth, yet powerful cooling airflow.2 It is not an air conditioner.

1 Tested to Dyson test method TM-003387. In a 3 cubic metre test chamber, at fan speed 10, at third-party test laboratory (Fraunhofer WKI), comparison against regular activated carbon performance.
2 In maximum setting. Tested for air projection (DTM-801) and purification coverage in a 81m³ room (TM-003771).
3 Fan, not air conditioning unit.
4 Tested for filtration efficiency at 0.1 microns (ISO29463).
5 Gas capture rates vary.
6 Third-party full machine testing based on GB/T 18801-2022 formaldehyde cumulative clean mass testing with continuous injection until plateau of formaldehyde CADR is achieved. Results may vary in practice.
7 App functionality may vary per market. Requires device to run app, Wi-Fi or mobile data, Bluetooth 4.0 support, and iOS version 15 or Android version 8 (or above). Standard data and messaging rates may apply.

9 Based on 12 hours use per day. Filter life varies according to pollution levels.
10 Dyson purifiers were challenged with airborne influenza A (H1N1 virus), MS2 bacteriophage and Phi-6 bacteriophage at independent labs, using a 30m3 chamber. After 60 minutes at maximum fan speed, the airborne concentration in the chamber was reduced by up to 99.9%. Real-life efficacy may vary.
11 Dyson purifiers were challenged with airborne SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) at an independent lab, using a 0.37 m3 chamber for 90 seconds. Dyson Purifiers were also challenged with Phi-6 bacteriophage (a surrogate to test SARS-CoV-2) at independent labs, using a 30 m3 chamber. After 90 minutes at maximum fan speed, the airborne concentration in the chamber was reduced by 99.9 %. Real-life efficacy may vary.
