Take hair from wet to finished look with no heat damage – with one machine. Saving you time without compromising your style or hair health.
Style from wet
Three pre-set temperatures – 80°, 100° and 115°C , straighten and dry hair – at the same time.
Easy natural styling
Touch-up or refresh your style from dry, to create a naturally straight style with reduced frizz and flyaways2, for a smooth and shiny finish with volume.
No heat damage
Preserves hair strength, promotes less breakage3 and protects natural shine, leaving hair feeling healthier.
Machine highlights
Intuitive airflow
Your machine senses when hair is between the arms and automatically drops to low airflow when it's not – for quieter, more efficient styling.
LCD screen
High-definition colour display shows airflow and temperature settings, for easy reference when styling.
Lock feature
Slide the button to lock and unlock the arms of your machine. Use with the arms locked to gently pre-dry hair and create volume from the roots.
Auto-pause
After three seconds of inactivity your machine will automatically pause. Simply move the machine to restart the airflow.
Pioneering Dyson technology
No hot plates. No heat damage.
Our latest hair care technology uses high-pressure airflow to straighten hair as it dries. Air is precisely heated and projected evenly through the tress as you style – with no need for extreme heat.1
Airflow to smooth and align
Airflow is projected downwards at a 45° angle to create the tension needed to align hair for a smooth end style – with less damage and breakage.3
Intelligent heat control
Glass bead thermistors, located in the machine arms, regulate airflow temperature up to 16 times per second, to prevent extreme heat damage and protect hair’s natural shine.
Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor
A 13-blade impeller spins up to 106,000rpm, propelling 11.9 litres of air through the machine per second. This generates up to 3.6kPa of air pressure, powerful enough to straighten hair as it dries.
Style reset
When hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds are more pliable and easier to ‘reset’. Using a combination of moisture and airflow, hair can be styled effectively – without extreme heat.1
The science of shine
Using lower temperature and resetting the hair’s bonds from wet mean its internal structure is protected, so it can reflect more light, for a shiny finish.
More than a plug
The PRCD plug (Portable Residual Current Device) is engineered for your safety when using the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener.
Dyson engineers designed the plug to include key electronic elements in it. By moving this to the plug, it removed weight and bulk from the machine itself.
Why this appliance needs a PRCD
The straightener’s powerful air drying technology for wet to dry use requires a PRCD plug to test the electrical current for safety. Such plugs are on a variety of electrical appliances, particularly in proximity to water or water vapour.
What this means for your styling routine
For your safety, press TEST and RESET every time before you use your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener. See the step-by-step instructions in your online user manual.

Yes, the PRCD plug can be carried in hand luggage. The plug is H71mm x L150mm x W41mm in size. It's an additional safety element, engineered with key electronics, to help reduce the size and weight of the straightener itself. If you intend to travel with your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener please check the voltage of your destination country matches your straightener. You can find the voltage in your user guide.
Dyson engineers designed the plug to include key electronics elements in it. By moving this to the plug, it removed weight and bulk from the machine itself. The plug is currently Dyson's best solution to enable a lightweight and compact product that enables wet-to-dry straightening.
High altitudes and low ambient atmospheric pressure can affect how hair styling tools perform. Low air pressure reduces the rate of airflow entering and exiting the machine, which can affect performance. If you experience any issues using the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener above 2,000m in altitude, talk to a Dyson Expert.
